Todd CoeyThe spay /neuter program is a more common sense approach.

Carl HokansonOver the years my family has saved or adopted coountless animals. Currently, we have two dogs and six cats and only one is not a rescue or adoption. Building a new facility would be like building more prisons. It will not address the core issue of unwanted litters of kittens and puppies. I have stood there when an animal we tried to save had to be put down by a vet because we were too late. The only thing I have ever experienced that was worse was watching my mother pass away. If you build this facility there is no turning back. Why not try the option put forth by Pets Inc. You can always build the facility later if the Spay/Neuter program does not work. Let's use some patience and logic. Thank you
Frances ConeIt is my firm belief that providing money to an established organization such as PETS, Inc. is a far better use of the grant money you are offering rather than providing such funds to a group that has never done anything to help the stray animals. Please help the stray animals of Richland and Lexington Counties by spending the money wisely, giving it to PETS, Inc. since they have so much experience with spay/neuter.
Ryan PostonPlease place substance above style
Judy Ewing-BrownWe need a very strong spay/neuter program to provent over-population of pets instead of a fancy building in the heavy traffic area of Harbision. Please help end the needless suffering of animals by committing to a Spay/Neuter program.
leslie greeneit does not matter who the money goes to, but it is obviously best spent on the prevention of more homeless animals- spay and neuter- make it easy!!

AnonymousPut the money in Spay and Nuetering. We don't need an expensive building in Harbinson area. Put the money where it will do the most good. Please support Spay & Nuetering..

Debra BrownPlease listen to the folks who deal with animal crisis each and every day. A beautiful building and people window shopping will not save our animals. Thank you
AndreaThe focus of any movement like this needs to be about the animals and NOTHING else!

Roland WilsonLet's take the politics out of this and fund a spay and neuter program. It's the only right thing to do.

Keli LucasAs a taxpayer and animal lover I feel the funds would better serve the Richland/Lexington community with concentration on the rescue and adoption of the many stray animals, Spay/Neuter services in the prevention of more stray animals, medical care of the sickly strays, and vaccinations of all the animals that are rescued. The actual building should come from donated funds as Pets, Inc. had to do in order to build their shelter and the many other smaller rescues and shelters have to come up with their own funding to operate. I do not wish to see favoritism in the use of my tax dollars. Services are more important at this time. Keli Lucas

AnonymousBuilding a facility that services an idea and serves very few animals is a mistake. This is not a competition. In fact the Shelter on Humane Lane has a very high kill number with uncooperative and non caring staff. The animals quarters are horrific and animals are kept in rooms without ventilation or natural light. This means they spend their last hours in the dark. Why are we not upgrading and changing the policy of this facility. When adopting there it took six phone calls and two personal visits to adopt an alley cat. How many people would even bother???

Mark B. BaughmanA new bulding does not in anyway help with this issue. I have adopted a pet from Pets Inc. and have been very impressed with them and there efforts. I am saddened by the fact that they are limited in the fact that they cannot take in and assist all the needs of the local community to do monetary and space restrictions. Any taxpayer support would be money well spent on this horrendous issue!

Pat MillsI understand that Project Pets is a group of the richest people in Columbia. Taking $3 million from taxpayers to give them a building sounds like Robin Hood in reverse to me. If the Councils want to cut the kill rate at the pound they should start with the birth rate on the streets!
Frances R. TompkinsI would appreciate your supporting the innovative program suggested by PETS,inc and endorsed by many of the area animal rescue agencies. These groups are the ones who are the action groups for the animals - they help the animals directly. Thank you for your consideration.

SUZANNE BARCZAKI AGREE 100% WITH THIS PETITION. I FIND IT REPULSIVE THAT RICHLAND AND LEXINGTON COUNTY COUNCILS WILL SPEND THIS MONEY FOR AN ADDITIONAL BUILDING WHEN THAT IS NOT THE BEST USE OF TAXPAYERS MONEY. WE RESIDENTS ARE SICK OF THE IRRESPONSIBLE SPENDING BY THE POLITICIANS VOTED INTO OFFICE TO PREVENT SUCH MALIGNANT BEHAVIOR. WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL LISTEN NOW. IT MAKES NO SENSE, WHATSOEVER, TO NOT FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF THE GROUPS WHO ARE EDUCATED IN THIS AREA AND ARE ALREADY WORKING SUCCESSFULLY TOWARD SOLVING THE PROBLEM IN THE BEST WAY. MY NEIGHBORS AND I ASK THAT YOU, PLEASE, DO NOT BUILD THIS COSTLY NEW CENTER. THANK YOU, SUZANNE BARCZAK

Ashton NorrisSpending millions on an adoption center in Harbison will never come close to coming to the root of the problem. The only way to stop over population is to spay and neuter as many animals as possible, and spreading out to help several area shelters is much more efficient than this fancy building.

Lindsay CathcartI live in Quail Hollow, very near the Pet's Inc. facility, and I adopted my last pet from them. In my opinion, they do a great job for our community. I do not believe that funding a facility in the Harbison area is a wise use of public funds, and will not serve the area where the main source of our problems exist (the southern part of Lexington County).

Dr. and Mrs. Marnie R. HookPETS, Inc. has presented the best program to relieve the operpopulation and suffering of the many animals that are abandoned. Please consider them first as the best organization to handle the situation.
John OwingsIt is a tragedy to put down loving animals when their are humane alternatives. In turn it saves money time, and resources. It also reduces the number of animals that are injured or killed on our roadways and/or by individuals who do not value life.

AnonymousPlease use this funding wisely! Pets, Inc. is a wonderful rescue center and does an excellent job caring for and placing abandoned cats and dogs. They would be good stewards of these funds in implementing an aggressive spay/neuter program for the strays of Lexington and Richland counties.

Erin PorterPets Inc. org has a established history of placing animals in homes and spay/neutering animals. They provide an invaluable service to the Midlands and already have a nice adoption center. There is no need to build another adoption center in such close proximity to Pets, Inc. The money would be better spent on spay/neutering to solve the root of the problem.
AnonymousHarbison is no place for a shelter and Pets, Inc. has proven volunteers, love and persistence is what our animals need. Pets, Inc. has done so much for our abandon animals on a shoe string budget. They care about the animals not status as certain folks involved with Project Pet.
