808 Mary Shannon C DameronProviding more adoption centers and spay/neuter clinics will not fix the pet overpopulation problem. Many other states offer free and reduced spay and neuter options to low income families. My husband and I both work. A few years ago we took in a litter of kittens whose mother was hit by a car. We decided to keep all six. The total cost at a regular vet for having two females and four males fixed was almost $800 and that is not including shots and de-worming. We had to do them two at a time for three months to be able to work it into our budget. My point is animals need to be fixed to prevent the overpopulation problem but with regular vets it can be expensive. A new fancy center is not going to do that and it is a waste of tax payers’ money because there are already centers out there. If anything Project Pet needs to get on board with the other organizations and get to the root of the overpopulation problem.
