Teresa CavallaroPlease support spay/neuter programs, help prevent suffering and neglect. How can a building prevent overpopulation???? Support a decision that makes sense and will help the animals.
John CavallaroSpay/neuter programs help prevent animal suffering and that should be the #1 priority.
Rachelwhat a shame that politics and the almighty dollar would win in this "battle". pets inc is well established, and addressing the issue of spay neuter is far more important than a pretty building on Harbison Blvd.

AnonymousIt seems as usual the elected officials that vote on these tyhpe of subjects rarely have information or even care. Pets Inc has been around a long time and has done a fantastic job in fact I have adopted several animals from there, do not understand why there is never any help for them but then understanding politicians they only do what makes themselves look good. Thanks

AnonymousMy daughter has a neighbor with 2 dogs. (M & F). She had ONE free spay/neuter voucher. She elected to have her large Male dog fixed because he was a house dog and thought it would keep him from "marking his territory" in the house. The Female stays outside on a chain. Country woman or just plain uninformed? Inform and issue vouchers to those who have outside animals.
Alex EricksonThis is a chance for animals to live healthy happier lives. And it will lower the stray aniamls on the streets and in the pounds.

Karen HoganSpay/neuter gets to the true source of the problem - overpopulation. Plus, the animals are healthier and usually live longer.

Alison GomezHere's my email to CDear Councilman Davis, It greatly disturbs me that 3 million dollars will be granted to build a shelter in Richland County, rather than, at least in part, being better utilized to finance spay and neuter programs which would go a great deal towards ending pet overpopulation in both Lexington and Richland Counties. Such programs have been implimented in other, much larger, urban centers where they have practically ended the barbaric practice of euthenizing unwanted pets. It is not that I disagree with the concept of a shelter - but the fact that the grant will only finance the building, and not the operation of the shelter or any other of the essential programs a truly effective shelter offers, such as education, outreach, and - yes - spay and neuter programs. I am afraid this looks too much like a gift to some building contractor somewhere rather than a gift to the animals of Lexington and Richland Counties. Please disprove my suspicions by explaining what lead you to make this descision. Very Respectfully, Alison M. Gomez Lexington County Resident ouncilman Davis:
