I was spanked as a child and I have grown up to be a responsible, successful, happy person. I don't hold any resentment to my parents for choosing to spank. If I got spanked it was because I did something that was worthy of that kind of punishment, usually something that could have potentially hurt me. I find it absolutely PREPOSTEROUS that a parent should be seperated from their child for spanking. Beating, abusing, torturing YES, that should be a reason to take a child away. A spanking no.Flag

He's constantly displaying pictures of his family to his friends & business associates alike, & never without a genuine smile to match. What has happen to him & his family has been a tragedy in the eyes & ears of every one who has ever had the honor of meeting this young man. I personally admire him for always being so diligent at caring after his children, as well as being a community leader in promoting & launching fund raising events, honorably in behalf of Cancer research nonetheless. Child abuse is a very serious accusation, which can either save an abused child from further being neglected, or as in this case it can shatter the lives & reputations of sincerely good people in the face of society. I can honestly consent that the actions that Mr. Rodriguez took upon his son after learning that he received less than average grades in school were not of a demoralizing or of any abusive nature, but of a timeless punishment carried down from generations to generations. I petition that Justice needs to be served with an ethical embrace around the families who struggle to motivate their children to succeed on a daily basis. I don't think it's right that we can no longer punish our children. Kids are way too out of control no a days. They are the future of this country. We have the right as parents to teach our children right from wrong. If they get bad grades in school they will be punished. If we are not aloud to do anything then I promise you that more and more kids will be dropping out of school and getting into more trouble. I do believe this one doesn't even come close to abuse...In our current USA Society where our education is lacking and our children are suffering from lack of discipline at the home, there is no questions as to what the causes are for it..We need to help those children who are abused, but not allow the children who are being disciplined to use this as a means to get away w/ whatever they want...Love sometimes is telling a child no and setting consequences for their action and letting them know that their future will have neg repercussions if they fail to give their best or intentionally give thier worst.....Flag

Even as a kid, when they hit me, I could understand it was for my own good, and it was the only punishment that got me to behave, thanks to this I learned to have respect for others. Every household has it's own method of punishment, i beleive that should be respected. Spanking is not child abuse!Flag

I did not have enough disapline and I acted out becuase of it.
