Name: Jennifer Quinton Chelley on Jun 8, 2007Comments: This is in breach of the new law brought by RSPCA with regard to 'cruelty' caused by a non-suitable lifestyle which is being enforced by LBS.... Contact RSPCA to get copy of wording and see for yourselves, then hopefully when this is put to LBS they will have to back down or be taken to Court by RSPCAFlag

Please inform yourself and make your voice heard in whatever way you can, in order to stop this incidious march into a 1984 style controlled society.Flag

Name: Belinda Blanchard on Jun 8, 2007Comments: I am not a dog owner, but love dogs and enjoy seeing happy dogs offlead when well behaved. Do not punish all just because of a few. It's just like road humps! Why Because a few drivers drive badly so you install road humps that force all to swerve and drive badly! Grrrr WoofFlag

Name: Lesley Morris-Hill on Jun 9, 2007Comments: I am not a dog owner but I think it is disgraceful that considerate dog owners are being penalised because of the behaviour of some inconsiderate owners who will probably ignore the new law anyway.Flag

Name: Yvette King on Jun 9, 2007Comments: This is truly a ridiculous act of cruelty to both dogs & us 'responsible' dog owners! The irresponsible owners will carry on being a nuisance, whilst the implications for normally well-balanced dogs to 'act out' through sheer frustration and what REALLY boils down to nothing short of cruelty, could be devastating.Flag

Name: Diana McKenzie on Jun 9, 2007Comments: I sign, not only as a dog-lover, but also as a citizen deeply affronted by the impudence of the Authorities who have attempted to impose their will without due legal process in what is still a democratic country, but in which our legitimate rights and freedoms are increasingly under threat. I don't even like Big Brother on TV - I'm certainly not prepared to tolerate it from my local Authority. Councillors - remember that you are elected and by no means indispensable!!!Flag

Name: Matthew Line on Jun 9, 2007Comments: Of the comparitively little dog fouling on the Rye, it is not all from dogs allowed to run free.... Once more this is legislation that favours the minority. If pushed, very few people would want to see large dogs who need the exercise being forced to lead a miserable life tethered to their owners. Dogs running around add life, interest and energy to public spaces, which - while increasingly well maintained - are becoming ever more sterile.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 9, 2007Comments: I have a lurcher cross who needs 2 good runs every day. If I have to keep him on a lead, he's going to become a very frustrated and pent-up animal - and that's not fair to him at all. I realise that some dogs are aggressive and antisocial but a blanket ban is not the solution - especially as the owners of these dogs are those least likely to abide by signs!Flag

Name: Ann Riley on Jun 9, 2007Comments: Thankyou for starting this petition. I emailed the council environmental officers and my local councillors here in Rotherhithe about this matter as soon as the new signage appeared. I received no answer from any of them, which shows how disappointingly little they care about local consultation and views.Flag
