Name: Kristian Roylance on Apr 20, 2010Comments: there is definately a need for more space for skaters as with the current park getting overcrowded skaters are choosing to go to other places in the town to skate where it may be a problem for local people, and also the bye-laws.Flag

Name: Donald & Jenny Clark on Apr 21, 2010Comments: We are the owners of Lakeside Miniature Railway which runs next to the existing Skatepark and we are continually having problems from youths coming from the skate park onto the track, throwing bottles and last weekend playing football in the skatepark. We would definiately welcome it to be moved to another location asap.Flag

Name: Luke Martin on Nov 9, 2010Comments: A new concrete skate park would be much better, as the council would save money on the long run, with not having the replace ply wood ramps at least once a year, also the skatepark would be a much safer place with a camera that actually works, and is monitered from the police station!Flag

Name: Dan Brown on Nov 10, 2010Comments: The little park by itself is not an adequate facility for even a quarter of the ride / skate users in southport - since they made it illegal to skate pretty much anywhere round town, they should provide adequate facilities for the amount of people in the town - a big concrete park is demanded by the amount of people. It seemed like the council wanted to make the park by the pier to move the 'problem' away from the center, rather than make a usable park to facilitate Southport's skate / ride scene. Elsewhere (America, France, Spain, other parts of UK etc), less populated areas have more and better skateparks - less people, more & better parks. A professionally designed concrete park would be a blessing to this town.Flag

Name: Iain on Dec 17, 2010Comments: Lets hope the SSP achieves their goal & has a state of the art skatepark built as part of the regeneration in the town, this would be a great addition to the town. With the correct youth management the skatepark area can be a deterent for violent behaviour as opposed to place where it manifests. All the best with your project.Flag
