Through Youth Language Advocacy, we seek to find allies of english language learners in Sonoma County. Local schools and schools all over the United States have students whose native language is not english. Unfortunately for these students, they do not receive developmentally appropriate schooling. They are expected to perform at the same level as students who do not have language deficiencies. These english language learners struggle daily with course content and can slip behind classmates in performance. They slowly fall behind in school, which leads them down a slippery education slope. Youth Language Advocacy wants to find allies of these students and their families to allocate more funding and resources in classrooms with english language learners.
