Tell us your story! How will Somerville parking reform impact you The City of Somerville's Traffic Commission has quietly voted to make major changes in parking regulation that will have a big impact on businesses, residents, employees, artists and others. The Mayor's Parking Solutions Task Force, set up after the Traffic Commission's vote, has proposed modifications to the changes. The Traffic Commission will vote on those changes on July 30th at 5pm at the TAB Building 167 Holland St. As of July 20th, meters have already gone up from $0.50/hour to $1/hour and hours extended from 8am-6pm to 8am-8pm. All city streets will become resident only parking. If the Task Force recommendations are passed, main thoroughfares will be resident parking only form 2am-10am. Some of those thoroughfares may have 2 hour time restrictions in place. More details and relevant links can be found at www.somervilleparc.blogspot.com. Let SPARC, the Somerville Parking Advocacy Reform Coalition, and City officials know how these changes will affect you as a business owner, employee, resident, artists, member of a religious congregation, student, visitor. Let your voice be heard.
