Please help bring Dr. Custodio out of retirement by signing this petition. We need her to come back to SOCES as a long term substitute to fix the current situation and fill the vacancy that exists in Choir.

As many of you are aware, Dr. Custodio was our choir director for the previous four years at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies. She took a floundering choral program and built it into a flourishing and profitable choir which included children from fourth through twelfth grade. She built a large library of music, costumes, and props that exceeded everyone's expectations. When she retired, enrollment was at an all- time high. This included the after school High School Glee Club which was made up of 30 volunteer students.

Dr. Custodio exhibited the utmost professionalism in and out of the classroom while working with parents, students, and faculty alike. During that time, she took them on field trips, had numerous concerts and community service performances. Dr. Custodio’s dedication and devotion to the students and their achievements is astounding. She has only the highest expectations for each class. She expects the very best from her students as well as herself.

Dr. Custodio is a model teacher who closely adheres to all district mandates and procedures. Last year, she created a song for the students at SOCES called “SOCES Style” to learn the ESLR’s (Expected Schoolwide Learning Results) to the rhythm of the popular hit “Gangnam Style” made famous by Psy. It was a huge hit with the students and parents alike.

She was the co-creator of our choir parent booster club at SOCES called “Parental Guidance”. This group was developed to create the parental support needed for the choir as well as our own parent choir. Parental Guidance performed at the Spring Sing each year and they became a close knit group. New parents joined every year and the parents whose children moved on from choir kept in touch and continued to perform. It was a brilliant idea that brought a diverse group together for the benefit of the students.

Right now, her application is at a standstill in Downtown. The District seems to be in no hurry to process her application. Please help hurry the process along by signing this petition. Please sign to bring back Dr. Custodio. Thank you for help!
