Laurie Tarantola | 04 | 02 | 98075 | The whole family love's this park just the way it is!
Kirsten Phillippe | 03 | 01 | 98075 |
Peter Henry | 01 | 01 | 98020 | Open undeveloped areas in King County should not be developed willy-nilly. Especially as areas are developed, we need to preserve areas for quiet, non-programmed use - just like we in Shoreline preserved the South Woods, a forested undeveloped area of 15 or so acres, which was threatened with sale by the school / water districts and development.
James Cox | 03 | 01 | 98029 | This park is the perfect place for a early morning walk - there are so many species of birds here, such as lewis' woodpecker, california quail, ringed-neck pheasant, golden eagle, several species of hummingbird, purple martin, and many more. If any part of the park is developed our shy species will be replaced with more aggressive birds that live near human habitation such as crows and starlings. There are so few places left on the Plateau for these feathered wonders to live and breed - please leave the park a natural area.
Evan Schrier | 04 | 01 | 98024 | Soaring Eagle Park is a unique resource now that so many natural areas have been lost to development. It is the only place of its kind, with completely natural trails for hiking and mountain biking so close to the urban boundary. It is a community treasure and should not be diced up and lost by pieces.
Bob Mallory | 04 | 01 | 98074 | How many cities in America have such a forested park right in their back yard? King County is extremely lucky to have such a regional resource.
Ann Brodsky | 03 | 02 | 96969 | The proposed changes will leave, what is now, Soaring Eagle Park, something else that will not be usable as it is today. The people and organizations using this park are doing so because of what it affords them - essentially, an escape from suburbia, which is becoming more difficult as development continues to march on -- it also, maybe more importantly, affords them the opportunity to return to a place that reminds them of why they live in Washington. I would guess that Soaring Eagle Park was named such because of the freedom that one experiences when in it's presence. Please do not disturb this beautiful place that you have created. More people, not less people, will respect your decision to preserve this oasis, and consequently, will leave the grounds with renewed trust in their community and world. Thank you, Ann
Brian Hillger | 03 | 01 | 98033 | I enjoy the park as a great get-away that is nearby. Please keep the park!!
William Buetow | 04 | 02 | 98029 | Visit monthly with group of hikers and mountain bikers. 2-3 times per month individually.
Edward Cutrell | 04 | 02 | 98105 | I have separately written letters to Ron Sims & other members of council. The few replies I've received seemed to indicate the land transfer is a foregone conclusion. Let us hope this is not the case.
Paul Midgen | 04 | 02 | 98005 | soaring eagle is a wonderful multi-use natural area, please listen to all the folks who use it year-round for that reason, and leave it the way it is!
Erik Arthur | 04 | 01 | 98052 | Please keep the trails. They are some of the only trails left in the King Co Metro Area.
Erik Alston | 04 | 02 | 98065 | My kids and I ride at Soaring Eagle often. I also ride with the BBTC.org weekly.
John Barr | 02 | 02 | 98103 |
Kris Durgin | 04 | 02 | 98027 | Wooded trails in the metropolitan area are scarce. Losing ANY of the trails in Soaring Eagle Park for any reason would be a devastating loss to our community.

T.E. Schlemmer | 03 | 02 | 98155 | This is a great park. It is the last bit of a legacy of trails that served mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians along the western margin of the snoqualmie river valley. We cannot allow this to fall into the hands of developers. Thanks!
Michele Bowker | 03 | 02 | 98110 | Another bunch of socer fields! We need to keep recreation diversified.
Raman Sarin | 04 | 02 | 98053 |
Derek Wang | 04 | 02 | 98027 | It is imperative to maintain multiuse trail systems near metropolitan areas such as the Soaring Eagle Park. A better plan to increase the number of ball fields may be to expand the existing ball parks in the area.
Shannon Sandeno | 01 | 02 | 98144 |
Eddie Lee | 04 | 01 | 98072 | Make better use and improve the present sports fields. there is no need to build more.
Thomas DePirro | 04 | 02 | 98014 | The loss of the open spaces available in Soaring Eagle Park would greatly effect the ability of families to fully enjoy the outdoor experience.
Tim Heikell | 02 | 02 | 98126 |
Shirley Rogers | 02 | 02 | 98118 | Please do not turn part of Soaring Eagle Park into playfields. We have too much development and too little forest as it is. Soaring Eagle Park is a gem and should not be developed into playfields.
Marguerite Prichard | 02 | 02 | 98033 | A large tract of undeveloped land is priceless and should be maintained as it is.
Linda | 03 | 02 | 98146 |
James Boldman | 03 | 02 | 98052 |
Eric Brown | 02 | 02 | 98144 | Can't we leave some ANY areas with /trees / woods on them anymore?? How many more trees can we cut down for soccer fields. How about people get off their behinds and go for a walk for bike ride on some trails. Why not have one big connected area from Grand Ridge to Duthie Hill to Beaver Lake (aka, soaring eagle)!!!!????
Nichole C. Walters | 02 | 01 | 98014 | There are very few equestrian parks available for trail riding. The city owns other properties that are already cleared of trees that can be used for ball fields and open recreation areas.
Jim Moreland | 03 | 02 | 98058 | This area is a jewel in a rapidly developing urban area. We need to preserve this area for current and future generations to enjoy
Ken O. Bonn | 03 | 01 | 98065 |
Andre Ciabattari | 04 | 01 | 98065 |
Dan Hagberg | 03 | 01 | 98029 |
David Hutton | 02 | 01 | 98115 | please preserve this piece of nature. I am terrified at the alarming loss of natural habitat that is visible all around us. I was out the country for 18 months and on my return have witnessed changes that are alarming, and yet it seems that people who live here, dont notice what is happening?
ronald long | 01 | 01 | 98077 |
Douglas Hebenthal | 03 | 02 | 98053 | This is one of the few undisturbed wooded areas on the east side. taking it away will be a huge loss to our community.
Sarah Kim | 04 | 02 | 98033 |
Daniel bogh | 04 | 01 | 98374 | Clearing this area in any way would be a travesty. Please leave something resembling a forest in this already hard hit area. We've lost so much there as is.
William Elser | 04 | 02 | 98029 | I use this park at least once a week and would be devastated to see it go away.
Mire Levy | 02 | 02 | 98037 | Although it's a bit of a drive from where I live, Soaring Eagle Park offers such a unique location so close to urban development yet feels so isolated from all the human activities that it is one of my favorite close-by open park to go mountain biking. Glaring lights of active sports complex and increased auto traffic will surely change the pattern of wildlife that use the park as their habitat and/or stomping ground. Although I understand that KC Parks is rather thin on resources, there are concerned citizens who will be willing to volunteer their time to maintain the park as necessary. Please consider retracting this proposal that will change the are for worse, forever.
susan miller | 04 | 01 | 98053 | Carving up a natural space is not the ideal way to make soccer fields. Better to use existing ones more intensively.
Tony Dambrava | 04 | 01 | 98053 | When we told a Trossachs resident on 10/12 walking through the woods that the County wanted to give the City of Sammamish 30 acres for soccer fields, she was horrified, and planned to get the word out among her neighbors so they could organize opposition.
Clinton Fowler | 04 | 02 | 98112 | Soaring Eagle Park is a critical location for casual mountain bikers looking to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors. There are so few places like Soaring Eagle Park left in the area. It'd be a great disappointment to see it replaced with anything than the natural environment we have today!
