Name: Anonymous on May 16, 2007Comments: There were many areas that did not have congestion problems yet STM has been introduced to restrict any connection regardless of their local network conditions. This is a blatant money making initiative and little to do with giving customers a good online experience.Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 16, 2007Comments: it seems we are being capped. we live in a block of flats where all but one out of the 9 flats have a computer. while its true i am downloading a large file i have most of the time CAPPED my own computer to ensure i dont download / upload excesavly to 5ks /5ks limit. it has taken 4 days to download 8g/8g most of which has been between the hours of 1am to 8am well outside the 4pm -12mn that virgin say are peek times (i tend to turn the download of during those times). but one other resident of the flats (does not live in my flat) is a teenager who i know downloads all the time i am sure we are being capped because our address's are vertully the same. we have a 10 meg line and i have been checking using thinkbroadband and we have not got any higher than 6megs at any time but most of the time it is around 1 meg. my conclution is we are being penalized because we live in a block of flats were there is a high useage of computers. as you see below i dont think i am beeing excessive C:\Downloads\*****(file name removed for personal reasons) Files size: 16.38 GB Selected:16.38 GB Progress: 50.1% ( 8.16 GB left ) Torrent: C:\Program Files\BitComet\Torrents\*****.torrent InfoHash: (removed for personal reasons) Comment: Category: Video Created time: 2007.05.10 00:12:39 Finish time: (not finnished) Time elapsed: 4day 14:25:05(download only) 4day 14:25:05(total) Downloaded: 8.31 GB ( 21 kB/s) Uploaded: 8.23 GB ( 21 kB/s) as you can see from above i have an average download/upload of only 4 g in 24 hours not even 1g would have been download during the period that virgin says they are going to cap. oh yah that teenager well he lives directly above me . judyFlag

Name: Virginia on May 17, 2007Comments: I'm appalled at the news, although I doubt I'm in the 5% I've been reading how easy it is to reach the limit so I suspect that most of Virgin Media users might reach the limit regularly, I'm already finding that connection drops after 7 pm, the service is so poor that I find I can't visit several of my favourite websites after that time. I, like many others, am thinking of returning to BT.Flag

Name: Kenny Thomas on May 17, 2007Comments: Up to 4 people can be using my XL connection between 4pm and midnight. 2 Adults and 2 Kids. I think the 3GB limit is very very harsh because of "the top 5%" so you are going to make everyone suffer. Since Blueyonder became Virgin I have lost Sky 1, Sky news and Sky Sports News. Now my bandwidth is going to be hit. I think i will be making some phone calls to Sky very soon after my upgrade from 10mb to 5Mb. I better do it quick as you might stop me using the telephone next!Flag

Name: Stephanie on May 17, 2007Comments: After happily using telewest for years I am now having to find another service as after the change over to Virginmedia it's become unbearably annoying being cut off, slowed down etc after paying for high speed service. Much of the time it's worse than dial-up that I had with BT 6 years ago.Flag

Name: Teresa Adams on May 17, 2007Comments: i dred to think what would happen when anyone needs to reformatt their computer. after windows is installed the next step is to go online and doWnload all the updates. there are so many that the limits will be hit before the updates have even downloaded! then there are all the software downloads and updates. its going to take days if you work and can only use the internet during the 'peek' times. i am on a 10 meg (xl) package 4 people use the line via wireless and as yet we have not even seen the so called 10 megs we have upgraded to the best we see is around 5 or 6 . normally its around 2 or 3 are we being capped or what. it sure seems it to me. we have started having to avoid downloading between 8 and 12mid night. RESULT : we are now looking at other surpliers. you say that the service is unlimitted well that is a lie and the advertisment moniters should be fining you for false advertizing. the trading standads should fine you too for not surplying the goods promist. this petition does not seem to have a lot of names on it. but from what i have read the customers are votting with their chose to leave your service the numbers are speeking for themselves. i did have simpothy and said sky was wrong when they removed their facilits from you now i can understand why. they see that your polices leave a lot to be desired within the whole company i surgest you get a new chairman and board and sort out the company or sell because very soon the way you are conducting this bissness you will end up looking for a buyer and or go into recivership. us well we are of to find a new isp one who will give us what we pay for and be honest unlike you bunch of CROOKSFlag

Name: Anonymous on May 18, 2007Comments: The limits imposed by Virgin Media are completely unfair and draconian - If the network cannot handle 20 Mbps than keep it at 10Mpbs (unlimited) and not cap users to make it appear the network can handle the traffic - be honest with customers !!!!Flag
