| 851 | Tam | We should all leave Virgin broadband. It's an awful con and they shouldn't get away with it. What's the point in broadband if you can't download? My bandwidth is cut in half if I download more than 750MB: what's the point in that? So I can't download xbox 360 demos anymore, and windows updates takes a large chunk out of my "allowance". |
| 852 | Paul | crap.... lets go back to good old ntl...:( if they used some of the money on upgrading the service would not need to throttle anyone... i would like to throttle them ;) |

| 854 | Anonymous | Why make normal everyday users suffer for the big downloaders |
| 855 | Mark Brooks | RIP OFF wasnt even told about it.
I am stuckwith a one year contract with Virgin but if i have to continue to pay 37 quid for super speeds and not get them i am off else where have i got dick head written on my forehead or something. RIP OFF. |

| 857 | Cuneyt Kizilelma | Steve Burch saw the bleak future and resigned already, Poor sod who is gonna replace him is the new boss. I hope he listens |
| 858 | Anonymous | Outrage!I`m switching to Be when my contract will end. |
| 859 | NAZIM JAMIL | SCREW VIRGIN MEDIA'S BANDWIDTH SHAPING! GIVE US OUR INTERNET BACK! |
| 860 | Alan McDonald | We signed up to the virgin package with telephone, cable tv and cable broadband at 2mb connection. So far Virgin have been the worst ISP i have ever had the misfortune to be with. I rate AOL alot higher and they before held my spot for the most terrible service. My package clearly read unlimited downloads, so can someone tell me why im limited to 1mb every single night of the week shared over 2 home computers? I cant play games or download or stream anything. Virgin will not get any more of our money once the contract time is over. It doesnt even seem to matter how much ive downloaded during the peak hours anymore. Even if no ones been home all day it still auto sets to 1mb, This service is a complete joke that will go bust within a few years. They have taken a great company like NTL and destroyed it from the inside out. |
| 861 | Paul Critchell | I agree that vm should drop traffic shaping and invest in the infrastructure. |
| 862 | Liam Dodd | No! |
| 863 | Anonymous | Virgin should invest in infrastructure to expand capacity |
| 864 | Neville Collins | Its takes 20mins to download 3g on a XL Connection and given my familys usage of the internet this happens quite a bit. Xbox360 demo downloads, wifes streaming music, on-line gaming. Its just Rediculous that we should be penalised like this. |
| 865 | Chris Mills | Getting capped at 1/4 instead of the stated 1/2 of the speed now (get 1MB instead of 2MB during peak times on my 4MB connection), virgin media support keeps telling me to ring their premium rate number even after I stated all possible details about that problem.
Anyways, a home network of 3 PCs, 2 laptops, and 6 games-consoles sharing the same connection, the 750MByte limit is easily reached within an hour of general traffic usage.
Their traffic management is a joke, and their customer services is worse than when it was ntl. ^_^ |
| 866 | robert round | what a joke, Capping people like this is crazy.
Ps3 games for instance are on blueray this = bigger files to download, so what do we do wait and wait, like back in the dialup days.
If this goes ahead i'll be switching to another isp for sure. |
| 867 | Leon | Ok. It's not a rumour. VirginMedia have 50Mb Broadband set to be rolled out soon... So why is it they are traffic shaping? They have the most reliable network in the country and throttling in. What for? To get rid of some of their customers as they cannot kee up with the demand? Probably! I know a few VM engineers that recently walked from their job due to cut backs... Virgin turned Money grabbers instead of customer focused now then have they? Sort it out Branson. It's getting ridiculous now! |

| 876 | Anonymous | i have been with cable and wireless /ntl/virgin for years and if this happens i will take my business elsewhere ....disgusting......... |
| 877 | Anonymous | Absolutly shocking. Paying for a service more expensive than most of the competitors for what virgin class as good customer service. Disgrace! ADSL here we come! |
| 878 | Anonymous | Disgrace |
| 879 | steve gilbert | I left virginmedia having felt they were ripping me off on my telephone charges.
After a few weeks with an ADSL isp thru my new BT phone (I ditched the virgin phone too) I went back to the good old reliable NTL cable connection - but it wasn't there! At peak times my 4 meg connection is often down to 200kbs or lower. 3 phone calls to their indian support department saying "Cut the crap - just STOP choking my connection" got me nowhere, they won'r admit they're choking it. I want to ditch virgin but ADSL connections are crap. This is so unfair. |
| 880 | james | £25 a month and the time when you want to download or browse internet is cappe, come on virgin stop taking the piss! |

| 883 | Lee Moore | Whenever my broadband is throttled to a lower speed than the current 20Mbit that I pay for, my bill should also reflect the same change. What's the point in having 20Mbit if you can only download at capacity for a couple of hours? |
| 884 | David Fowler | Unlimited broadband eh? Isn't traffic shaping a limit?
I could understand traffic shaping for people who are on the XL package downloading multiple GBs or even TBs a week but me being on the L package get castrated to 1Mb for downloading 1/4 of a free linux distribution. Shocking. If it wern't for the fact Virgin Media Broadband is the best out there, I'd be cancelling my subscription now. |
| 885 | Mike Harris | I'm on VM's 20meg package and am considering leaving because of the bandwidth throttling. |
| 886 | Ian Hartley | I use one of the increasingly popular Network Attached Storage devices or NAS servers, which allows files, photos etc to be accessed by friends, family and 3rd parties via a website or FTP. Also being a modern musician, I upload my own compositions to other musicians around the world. This is the 21st Century and yet we are still behaving as if it were the last Century on dialup.
So why exactly am I bothering with Virgin Media and their Broadband service? Seems very Narrowband to me! I have been with them since it was Telewest between 2002 and 2006 and since the changeover to Virgin, the service quality and availability has gone to the dogs. |
| 887 | Linda Sneddon | Virgin are just using traffic management to enable them to sell higher priced "faster" accounts...
What is the point if you are ultimately limited? |
| 888 | Matt Wilkinson | Traffic shaping is a scam.... just freeing up more bandwidth for ISP's to sell! |
| 889 | James Crocker | why give us fast connections to download if we download 1 thing and get capped. GOOD JOB |
| 890 | Anonymous | It's unfair to pay for a product that does not deliver what it says. |
| 891 | Anonymous | I'm currently looking for another ISP. I don't think the speed issue will be resolved. This along with poor general speed, technical failures, premium number telephone support line and poor service from foreign call centres... I have had enough! |
| 892 | Anonymous | This, along with the usual nonsense regarding Technical support and slow access show that there are some major issues that Virgin need to resolve. 2mb line getting shocking speeds.
SORT IT OUT Virgin, invest in some proper Cisco Routers and Switches for your datacentres,. |
| 893 | Weed | Virgin Media are crap. Unfortunately I'm too far from my local BT exchange to be able to get fast broadband over a BT line, so i'm stuck with these greedy incompetents. I was with Telewest for 5 years, who were fine, but after getting taken over by Virgin Media, technical support is now on a premium line number and their performance is lowest of all the major service providers. Worst of all is getting cut back to 25% of the advertised download and upload speeds for 5 hours every night. This seems to happen as soon as my upload speed goes over 256Kb - nothing to do with download speeds (I'm paying an extra 10 quid a month for a measley additional 128Kb upload which i really need). |
| 894 | Simon Moran | Disgraceful and downright underhand tactics by VM. I've been with TW for 9 years, VM have really screwed the service up. Speed drops to 5MB after 20 mins and stays like that the rest of the night. I complained strongly to VM and was assured it's only a temporary solution while they upgrade network capacity. I've given them 6 months to get better, they've given me 20 Mb at the 4mb new customer rate of 10.50 a month... seems fair for now... |
| 895 | Christopher Jackson | This is absolutely disgusting, it's has a big impact on web developers as well because they lower the upload speed as well. It's will also effect Linux and Mac users because the program tends to be bigger on these OS compared to Windows. It's the most careless thing they ever done to their customers. |
| 896 | Mr Trev | this sucks.......YOU suck |
