Dear Students and Staff of SMS: We are writing to inform you about our plan about starting a student council and running it efficiently for the 8th graders of our school. We have come up with a few ideas as to why a student council would be beneficial for both the students and teachers of our school. Now, one reason as to why the student council would be useful for our school is that it addresses the immediate needs of students and teachers. This makes the school a better place for the students, and this has been proven to help students learn more proficiently. Another reason why a student council is helpful for the teachers and the rest of the staff is that the issues aren't immediately pushed onto the staff, but is placed into the hands of the students, and handled by both the students and staff. We would like to present what we believe a student council should do. Firstly, a student council should address the concerns of both students and teachers, and come up with ways to fix the issues if they are significant. It should also organize events that appeal to the students and teachers. We feel that an effective student council should be well-organized with a careful selection of council members, and regular group meetings. It should also include more student interaction as well as teacher interaction, because they are for the benefit for the students as well as the teachers.
