Wake Technical Community College has banned all smoking anywhere on campus. They used to have areas you could smoke and they had cans for the cigarrette butts. They say it is to help us with our health but what about the chronic smokers who have been smoking all their lives And what about the rights of the smokers They have taken away the right for smokers to pursue what makes them happy. All of this to make the non-smokers happy. I myself personally, and my friends are all smokers who have been smoking for more than 2 years. We have non-smoker friends that have already agreed to sign this to get at least a designated smoking area. They are violating our pursuit of happiness by taking our right away to choose whether or not to light one up and poison our body. If we are in college and we are old enough to legally smoke and buy cigarrettes then we should have the right to choose to smoke outside. At least we have the decency to go outside into the open air where the smoke doesn't stay trapped in one area. Non-smokers have the option to walk around us if we are smoking. What about the students who need to smoke right before a big test in between classes If they start having a fit from no nicotine and end up failing the test, tell me is that helping keeping their grades up. Some people can't function without smoking in between classes. We could just as easily go step out into the street right off campus and smoke, but then we would risk getting hit on the road all because we aren't allowed to smoke on campus. That is how far we smokers will go to have a smoke. So please all we are asking for is one designated area for the smokers to smoke freely.
