Dear all, Rumours has it that our school SMK Bukit Jambul will have its name changed to another name - probably in the honour of Penang's 6th Governor, the late Tun Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Haji Hamdan bin Sheikh Tahir. However, the name change is not confirmed and we are not sure whether if the name change will take place or if the name change will be in the honour of the late Tun. Nonetheless, former students of this wonderful school have gathered against the idea as we feel the school's establishment and history will be erased with the name change. Some of our current students have similar views, as well as former and current teachers at the school. We collectively take this opportunity to submit a petition should the plans take place. We, however, as Penangites honour the late Tun's contribution and would gladly suggest that other forms of recognition be given to him i.e. renaming the computer lab, or school field etc. We are also in support if a new school is built in honour of his name as this will not affect anyone. If you agree to this petition please have your signatures listed. At the comments field, it would be very helpful if you could put your final year at SMK Bukit Jambul and indicate if you were a student or teacher at the school. Current teachers/students please indicate that you are a current student or a current teacher accordingly. Members of the public may leave this section empty. Thank you.
