It has recently come to our attention that Sming Tse from Hong Kong will not be returning to Charles Edwin London Secondary School to complete his high school diploma in the school year of 2006-07. This information has confused and shocked many students and we all sincerely hope this will not be the case.
This petition is meant for members of the London community who have known Sming Tse. Please do not leave your signature as anonymous.
The reason Sming will not be returning is because of his low subject grades. We wish for the members of the teacher committee to realize that academic values, though recognizably important, was not the sole reason for which Sming was selected to come to Canada. Academic values also had very little to do with the way Sming managed to get along so well with the campus community. We believe that Sming has personal commitment to peace and international understanding. Many of us have borne witness to his inquisitive nature towards cultures other than his own, his complete lack of discrimination of any form, and his expressions of love to members of the community.
We who sign this petition believe that Sming has potential to improve his academic skills and he has our vote of confidence. We also promise to assist Sming in any areas in which assistance is required.
We request for Sming to be able to remain in London as a regular student for another school year in order to complete his high school diploma. He is a popular and much loved member of our community and we believe the community will be hurt if he were to leave.
We would appreciate if the staff of London would express their feelings towards this matter through signing this petition if they choose.
This petition will be sent at the end of August 2006 to the principal of London |
