As far as I know know, Europe has higher safety and emission standards than the US, so what is the problem with bringing them here. Hurry up! I'm tired of paying $30 to fill up my tank! And they're SO CUTE!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 19, 2006State:Country:Comments: We, the USA, are falling behind because of Government Regulations. We could easily save more fuel by allowing the Smart Car in Gasoline and Especially DIESEL Versions into the country. We can let in Illegal Aliens, but can not allow cars. A market we created.Flag

Name: Michael Lacy on Jun 8, 2006State:Country: USComments: The Smart car seems to be the most economically viable alternative to the hybrid. After all who wants to be slammed with a 3000.00 battery replacement charge which ultimately affects the resale value of any hybrid purchased. Basically, the fuel economy of the Smart car makesthe hybrid format more suited to larger family vehicles. This does not rule the Smart car out as a commute car in a family household.Flag

I live in a major east coast metro area and the streets are narrow and congested (very similar to European cities); they would be a better fit than the (single-passenger) SUVs and trucks I see during commuting hours.Flag
