    Comments: This seems to be a reasonable test. It affects only one or a few stops, and a record can be started to measure positive results. It may only be needed for a limited period of time. I should think the drivers of trains would also be behind this proposal, as knowing you have killed a person even though you could do nothing about it, would be a terrible burden to bear. A driver who has suffered this fate might well need more medical care and counseling--expenses which might be avoided if the accident rate is cut down.

    Comments: This is a dumb proposal. If Palo Alto wants to stop suicide at this intersection, they should close it to all pedestrian and car traffic, not delay everyone riding the trains. Longer term, they could help pay for that high-speed rail tunnel, removing the at-grade crossing forever.

    Comments: In cases where work is a just punishment for a crime or where a person willingly binds themselves temporarily to someone, these situations, while possibly defined as slavery are not immoral in themselves.
