The Australian government has established several screening programs for cancers including bowel, cervical and breast, yet there is no formal screening program for skin cancer. Currently the key message of action is recommending the public to understand their own skin and consult a doctor if any noticeable change occurs. Unfortunately, at this stage it can sometimes be too late and hence current informal screening methods are inadequate.
