Jim McCook, W6YAafter seeing a presentation at Visalia of what the Skimmer does, I walked out with a sick feeling. It was as if real contesting is history, at least for me.
Bill VanAlstyne W5WVOBut I don't see how you can enforce it. In baseball, the umpire can readily see that a player is using an aluminum bat and throw it out. There are no umpires in radio contesting. Some will use it anyway, and they will win.
GM0LIRwe have to stop this now, or it will wast cw contesting as we no it !

David Quental, ct1drbCw contests should be done by humans, not with machines.

Manfred Kohl - 7Z1UG
Terry Robinson, GM3WUXI fully agree with this petition. A line has to be drawn between that which enables human skill to develop VS that which removes the need for it altogether.
Brian Coyne. 5B4AIZ/G4ODVmy c/s was omitted from my signature, now corrected.

Aki, JA5DQH / KH7ACW skill depends on the ability of operator by himself.

Frank Donovan - W3LPLComputer automation is a growing part of our contesting sport; however, operator skill and performance continue as critical success factors of our sport. CW Skimmer is such a disruptive technology that will shift the focus of CW contesting from human operating to an on-the-air computer game. I strongly support the request that CW Skimmer not be allowed for anyone submitting an entry in a CW contest.
Ryan, N0OJ
Jack Colson, W3TMZThis would just be another example of "dumming down" amateur radio contesting. If the CW readers are not bad enough, we do not need this technology during contest competitions.
Steve Hanlon, WM3OThe technology of CW Skimmer will enhance the fun of on-air activities, but it should not become an integral part of CW contesting. Operator skill and station ability, two core components of contesting, need to remain as the focus - CW Skimmer erodes to skills required and will ultimately eliminate skill from the equation.
Jim Jordan K4QPLTHANKS!! This is just another attempt to "dumb down" ham radio in the name of technology. Why doesn't baseball use pitching and batting machines. It would be about the same thing!
Todd Forret, KG9IE
ILIYA_LZ4UUFor last 10+ years i tried to be the human "skimmer"...and some guys know that i'm doing well in s&p:) So,i want SSB not to remain only mode where i can compete in my favourite way. 73! Iliya LZ4UU
Mirko 9A3BIM
Dick, W0RAASkimmer will be the beginning of the end for CW contesting. If an individual needs Skimmer to participate in a contest, then they should not be contesting. Ban Skimmer from all contests. I know that cheaters will still use Skimmer, even if banned, but then even bad guys still use guns

Zoli Pitman, HA1AGThank you for your initiative!
Del Seay, K0MZNI have doubts a ban can be enforced.
Jim KoshmiderThis is important - contesting should not be equated to a computer game!
Bill Tippett W4ZVMachine-to-machine QSOs (which is where this is eventually headed) do not interest me in any aspect of ham radio. For the same reason, I have little respect for those who use machine-to-machine modes like JT65 or QRSS to make weak-signal EME or VLF "QSOs". So what?
Howard HoytI strongly agree with the petition and the opinions opposed to CWS on CQContest. 73, Howie N4AF

John Bayne N4EEBI have been a fly on the wall reading the megabytes of discussion regarding both sides of the CW Skimmer debate. While it is certainly cool technology, it has no place whatsoever in CW contests. Please do not allow its use.
