Comments: If CPS institutes a 7.5 hour day, my husband and I will seriously consider withdrawing our sons from school. I believe the district will lose many like-minded, involved families, and will end up worse off than it started.

Comments: I feel CPS should fix the current school day before extending the school day. My child's school has a .5 music teacher and no tech teacher.

Comments: I do not mind adding more time to the school day, but to make it a 7.5 hour day for children is ridiculous. As an educator and as a parent I feel that my children will miss out on extracurricular activites as well as family time. Let's make a better decision for our children, one that will actually work. A 7.5 hour long day is not the answer.

Comments: My daughter's school implemented a 7.5 hour school day in September, and since then her overall behavior and focus have suffered. I fully support a longer school day at CPS, but 7.5 hours is just too long for elementary schools.

Comments: The fact the CPS school system is trying extend the school day by 90 minutes is a huge problem for me and fellow students( within my school and other schools). I already dont get out of school until 2:45 therefore if this plan is carried out than the ressults my dissmisal time being about 4:00 which would affect my ability to play sports, have a job after school or just relax and that doesn't even account for my time to do homework. This is not a good plan. Thank you.

Comments: I believe 6.5 is more than enough. I feel very strongly that kids need time for extracuricular activities, fun and family too. We already moved to a longer day this year and i find it's a struggle to make it to park district programs and get things done before 9 pm.
