Lots of people saw Sister Act in London. Now the lucky people of New York have got it in their great city. I was lucky enough to see it there on my Birthday this year. I didn't buy the Soundtrack there because the version they're selling is a repackaged version of the London Cast Recording. That recording is one of my favourite musical recordings ever. However it would be nice to get a copy of the Broadway cast singing those songs. There have also been several changes to the songs and songlist since the London Recording. e.g. No Prologue; changes to Fabulous, Baby; Deloris singing at the end of Here Within These Walls; How I Got the Calling is now called It's Good to Be A Nun; Take Me To Heaven (Reprise) has an altered ending; Mother Superior sings a new song called Haven't Got A Prayer; The ending to The Life I Never Led has changed (as has its Reprise); The Fabulous, Baby (Reprise) now has an introduction sung by Eddie and also has men singing backing vocals alongside the women. The reduced number of tracks may also allow for the Chase music to be recorded (finally) and the Raise Your Voice Finale could also be included. This week the show was nominated for 5 Tonys. One of those nominations was for Best Original Score. It therefore seems silly to me that the Score the Tony Committee were listening to is not the one you can buy at the Theatre. Please, please, PLEASE record the FABULOUS Broadway cast for us to treasure forever.
