Under the current structure the presidential term is four years with the possibility of a second term if re-elected. After the first two years, the President usually gets distracted by campaigning for re-ecection. At the same time Congress also spends most of their time trying to defeat his re-election. So.. in essence the President is unable to preside effectively after the beginning of the second year. I now propose that the duration of an elected President be six years with-out the possibility of re-election.That way He can maintain his focus on the needs of the people he was elected to serve, and not on political wrangling. Since Congress also ends up in gridlock when they oppose everything a sitting President proposes, they need to focus on getting the will of people done, and not their own personal enrichment so...I further propose that Congress be put on a periodic performance review holding them accountable to their constituants ,with the penalty of termination for non performance, which would beconducted by an impartial board of Citizens from their elected state.
