Believe it. There are people who think simulated terrorism is a game. What's worse? There is a game company that facilitates the group's ability to do so.

The company is called CCP Games based in Greenland with corporate offices worldwide including The United States. The game they offer is call EvE Online; a futuristic space simulation.

A group of players within this game operate under the name CODE. They have a blog where they disseminate a terrorist manifesto and post daily updates of their terrorist activities. Their primary, nearly exclusive, attack tactic is called 'suicide ganking.' This does not require a lengthy explanation. One needs only to picture the aircraft crashing into The World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. It's the same tactic.

Is simulated terrorism acceptable? CCP Games seems to think so. When confronted about simulated terrorism, CCP Games responded, "Due to the sandbox nature of EVE, as a game designed around player created conflict, acts of piracy, warfare, nonconsensual pvp, ganking, scamming and theft are not seen as exploits by the developers of EVE Online, as the opportunity to do so is built into the game mechanics." CCP did not respond specifically to simulated terrorism, but the response indicates that simulated terrorism, "is built into the game mechanics." CCP games further states, "CCP does not support CODE it supports the game." In a real world application, it is not required for anyone to openly support a terrorist group. Providing sanctuary is enough to violate the US PATRIOT Act.

There are some who state it is just a game. The same argument can be used to state "Mein Kampf" is just a book, and The Constitution of the United States is just a piece of paper. However, when one considers the implications, the US Constitution is the instrument of freedom and democracy, "Mein Kampf" was the blueprint for The Holocaust, and simulated terrorism cannot be considered an acceptable game.

There is also a real world danger to consider. People who participate in simulated terrorism do not simply pretend to be radicalized. They demonstrate an open minded state towards radicalization, and in this way, make themselves targets for recruitment by real world terrorist organizations.

Simulated terrorism is an affront to freedom and democracy. It is devoid of morality, and a defamation of terrorist victims and their families worldwide. Corporations who profit from this and similar activities should have their corporate rights in the United States revoked.

We call upon the Government of the United States to openly condemn simulated terrorism and take any and all action to abolish this practice.
