The Council Leaders in the region have identified the upgrade of the A19 Silverlink Junction as a top priority, for urgent investment.

The Elected Mayor for North Tyneside and Leader of South Tyneside Council have called a Joint Cabinet meeting to address this issue and will present the outcomes to the Secretary of State for Transport, the Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond MP. Together they have pledged to find a solution to this major traffic interchange located within one mile of the second Tyne Tunnel and a key entry point to North and South Tyneside.
