Comments: Knowledge is empowerment. Let's share! Agree that people need to learn more about Sikhs and know that kirpans are not weapons to hurt people, but instead to protect in the time of need if a situation arises.

Comments: One of the key fundamentals this country was based on was freedom of religion. That same right is being questioned when a sikh is asked to remove his/her kirpan. The kirpan, small ceremonial sword, is a key characteristic of the sikh faith. The actual blade is no longer than 2 inches at many times and in many cases is blunt. It is just a symbol which stands for virtue and protecting the opressed. I feel that a country as great as The United States should allow the free practice of a peacfull religion. This is what makes this country so great.

Comments: This petition i am signing concerns about the wearing of kirpan anywhere specially in America. I urge you to think about the kirpan issue as kirpan is unseperatable part of baptised sikhs. As just the word "KIRPAN" itself means kirpan is for protection for others, as if u can be any one man or woman and for you. The great identity was even preserved by our ancestors as they lived in jungles with no particular place or house to live in for over a century. Today where we are facing various issues of verbal, media and physical attacks being done on us and so having hard times to survive in the world both in and outside India. Because of this identity and beliefs our ancestors were able to fight for British and west in world war against Hitler and 83,003 of them died with pride, and i am happy to say that if they wouldn't had fought then past, present and future would have been alot different. So, please give a major priority to this issue so it can be resolved as quickly and peacefully as possible. Thanks.

Comments: I believe that a Sikh should be able to wear his kirpan as it is an article of faith and it is mandatory for an amritdhari Sikh to wear.
