The SGPC has officially agreed to open these roles to women and end the long practice of exclusion. I am physically drained from this fight but finally at peace knowing our daughters will now serve the Guru as equals. We have to keep watching to ensure these doors stay open …

Sikh Women aren't allowed to serve our Guru, be it part of the Panj Pyare, the Granthi, The Raagi Jatha. They aren't even allowed to carry the Paalki Sahib during Prakaash or Sukhasan, and all this has been decided by none other than the SGPC. What happened to the Hukam of our Guru, the Hukam of 100% equality Help Sikhs around the whole world to achieve the equality the Sikhi teaches us all about. Today our Mothers, Sisters and daughters are being oppresed by the SGPC. let us unite and destroy their tyranny against Sikh women. we must achieve equality and restore the teachings of Our GURUS. please sign this petition and make a difference today. let us protect the Honour of Khalsa, of Sikhs, of Women and especially of our GURU...

The exhaustion is setting in but I refuse to walk away while this injustice remains. We are nearing two hundred and fifty names and I need you to push this further right now to ensure our message is impossible for them to ignore.

I strongly believe that women should be able to do Kirtan Seva at Harmandir Sahib. How can men sing Asa de war Kirtan at the temple which states that Women equal to man and not allow them to sing in the temple. This monopoly of male dominated traditions must end. As in a Sikh woman I am appalled and ashamed of this practice. These men who uphold this tradition should think what would Guru Nanak Dev Jee say if he was on this earth now. My dream is to see both men and women singing Kirtan together in the temple.

Rehat maryada says women and men are EQUAL. Why is this not respected at the biggest gurdwara in the WORLD?!!

As one married to a Khalsa, I find the fact that women are not included in Gurdwaras services hypocritical. Does it not say in SGGS that men and women are equal?

Kirtan seva is made to be for both WOMEN and men. SGPC have been going against the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. No wonder the world hasn't been informed of Sikhi yet.

Sikhi is a religion of equality. What a man can do, a woman can do and what a woman can do a man can also do. Why do we preach that there is equality is sikhi if in reality there is not. Not allowing women to do kirtan at arguably the holiest shrine of sikhi is discrimintation and should not be tolerated. We, as sikh women, need to unite and ask to be given our right to do sewa anywhere we feel like, we should not be subject to sexist constraints and we need to take a stand on this shocking discrimination taking place in our 'equality based' faith
