Name: Rhonda Haswell on Sep 8, 2008Comments: I already complained and seen the picketing. Does no good. Jones Onslow has been doing this for years and because they are too big to stop. I got my electric bill in the mail today - $282. I thought to myself, "How can that be" I am a single parent with one child living in a small doublewide. I called the electric company because I thought they had made a mistake. There was nothing they could do; so I got online and went to factfinder.census.gov and found out the population of Onslow County, N.C., is 152,440. The household population is 125,251. There are also 1,790 establishments of all kinds. Now if I added all the occupied households and the establishments in Onslow County, there would be a total of 127,041 families and establishments needing electricity. And if I multiply 127,041 by just my electric bill of $282 this month, I would get a total of $35,825,562. Times that by 12 (one year) and it comes to around $429,906,744. That's being hyper-conservative because I know the hospital alone takes a lot more than $282 a month to run., not to mention, they probably serve all the military bases in and around Camp Lejeune. So then I asked myself, "How could it possibly cost that much to run an electric company There's nowhere else to go" How can anybody not feel like they are being robbed when they look facts like these I guess the citizens are just supposed to suck it up and pay the bill.Flag

Name: Retha Melvin on Jan 24, 2010Comments: My bill doubled from January to February. I did do anything differently, so I don't understand why there has been such a major increase in my bill. My bill in January was 162 and my bill for next month is 332. That is totally ridiculous. I want some answers as to exactly what is going on.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 25, 2010Comments: Our electric bill went up close to 50% for the month of Dec. Would have expected that increase had we been home to use that energy. Can you explain the increase in our bill when we were gone for two weeks of the month, with unnecessary appliances unplugged, and the heat off?Flag
