People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an organization that undermines numerous civil liberties in this country. Their crimes include: Intolerance. PETA claims that anyone who eats meat is evil and must be punished. People should have the right whether they choose to eat meat or not, and this statement is equivalent to slaughtering people because they are of a different race, color or creed. Sexism. PETA claims to care for animals, but gives no regard to human rights. They try to lure people in with photos of scantily clad, or completely nude women; This ideology states that women are nothing more than objects to be exploited, and are worth far less than animals (While women are free to choose whether they participate in pornography, PETA is not a pornographic organization, and are simply using pornographic images to get media attention). Hypocrisy. PETA claims that killing animals in any way, shape or form is wrong, yet they have been suspected of euthanizing unwanted pets. They claim that the exploitation of animals is cruel, yet they exploit women on a regular basis (see "Sexism"). They claim that eating meat is cruelly taking life, when plants are every bit a life form as animals. They claim to be against violence toward animals, yet many of their ads depict terrorist actions, and in the past, they have been suspected of supporting the known terrorist groups ELF (Environmental Liberation Front) and ALF (Animal Liberation Front). These crimes show that PETA is an organization that cannot be trusted, shows no regard for human or animal rights, and demonizes those they disagree with.
