Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first issue of- “Is Left Right?” (a project by Green Hearted Author’s Group, sub-division of your own Paradise Nation). Lets not waste time on the monotonous intros. Let’s move to our topic of the month-‘RESERVATIONS in India’, because after all, we are here for religiously acknowledging something and what matters is this.

An 'issue' is defined as ‘a subject of concern’. And sticking to its definition, let’s assign it to our topic.

Reservations in India, as you might already be aware of, have always been controversial since the country's independence.

It was before independence, that the citizens of India; for the sake of uniting all castes and creeds in the country, appealed for reservations in the indian education system. Under those delicate conditions, Gandhiji accepted proposal but suggested to not make it last permanently.

Would you open your rickety radio with a spoon, even if you have a screwdriver? The point in question here is: Is it worth giving chance to the substitutes at the cost of our focal resources???

No doubt, reservations in the Indian education system were an apt solution but lets not forget that they were apt ONLY under the conditions of that time. In todays contemporary world are the intentions behind the idea of reservations justified? Its a big baffling question mark. As by our common sense, we can we definitely think over a fact that and judge upon the difference between a doctor and engineer with scores in 90s and 50s... the difference between the knowledge of officer or student under reservation quota and the officer under general category?

Is the involvement of politics justified? And by the but-obvious human nature that tells him to attain success by all means... what has now turned to “any” means... hook or crook, good or bad, right or wrong... but it is... when parties don’t’ forget their mottos, why do we??? It's we the people of India, the voice of strength equipped by one of the best democracies of the world , need to stand against the odds, against fake and mean promises of  'leaders'. We must make sure that we choose right.

We talk of justice. Our leaders quote it as “JUSTICE TO MINORITIES”. How come the minorities have a two way chance?: They are open to both, reservations and the general seats. For ‘justice’ we do so!!! Then are we being just to others that don’t fall in this section? Is this being just by snatching the just of others?? As in most of the local or small universities, a large section of seats go in vain for they were tagged “reserved”. Is this what we call being just??? It’s not that it’s out of our knowledge that many of these who fall under the categories of reservation or termed underprivileged are just merely termed. Many of them possess the elevated social and living standards, and many of those that are not termed underprivileged, are really deprived of their utmost needs.

It’s true, that reservation is an important tool for the upliftment of backward sections of the society, and yes-“society” not caste or religion!!! Because that’s where we can call ourselves secular country... truly a pure secular country when we are just to everyone...

We give reservations to caste but not women where we are in serious need of it, then are we right?

We aren’t really against reservation, in fact we support than the same and understand the importance of it... but what is wrong is the “intension” with which it is set, what is wrong is criteria with which it is set... what is wrong is norm with which it is set and what is wrong is the way it is practised.

Some of the point that our small minds suggests are:

1. There government shall privilege the troop under reservations on the basis of areas and incomes instead of castes and religion. Since india is the only country to reservations are on caste basis.

2. Even if it is on caste basis, we can do this. Say if, 30% is the population of the poplutaion under this category and for some exams or post 12% are alredy selected under the general selections. We request that only rest 18% are give the advantage for reservations. This way we can create a balanced system and justice.

We request you to suggest more ideas via comments.
