Our daughter, Shree Mukherjee, a bright and lively young girl of 7, died on the 12th of September, 2011 of leukaemia (blood cancer). She had various cold and fatigue related symptoms for over a year and we had arranged several medical reviews by specialist physicians of Kolkata.
Shree had been under the supervision of Dr Anjan Bhattacharya, a senior doctor from the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital from February 2010. We had also consulted Dr. Amitava Pahari, another senior doctor from the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital for her fatigue related complaints. And only a month before her death when, back from school, she was severely ill with vomiting and tiredness, we had consulted Dr Apurba Ghosh - a prominent paediatrician in Kolkata.
None of these distinguished doctors advised her to get a blood test done - something that could have saved her life. As it turned out, she was diagnosed with leukaemia on the day she died. We are feeling helpless as non-medical people.
We, her parents, would like Apollo hospital to formally investigate the matter and put in proper checks so that this sort of medical and institutional negligence does not happen again. We aim to collect 10,000 signatures to raise awareness about the issue so that no other parent has to go through this unbearable loss.

Strict action needed against the hospital. Cant believe they did not suggest a simple blood test.

How can doctors miss leukaemia symptoms for a whole year. This is gross negligence.
