So, the school I go to isn’t very supportive of LGBT :(
Before I graduate, I would love to get my school to participate in “The Day Of Silence”
What is the Day of Silence you ask?
A: The GLSEN Day of Silence is a student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Students from middle school to college take a vow of silence in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT. If I could get my school to do this, It could lower stigma around LGBT and show students who are LGBT that we are here for them/ they shouldn't be ashamed of who they are. It will promote self acceptance and love!
I have already talked to faculty about this and they said they “are willing to continue the discussion.” Students have also said they would be willing to participate. But, If I could come back next school year with a petition with 1,000 signatures, I could push the conversation further, maybe even past The Day Of Silence.
By signing this petition, you are going to help set forth tolerance and acceptance at my school. Especially since its christian, you will be showing that there other christians that believe and fight for LGBT.

Seeing one hundred people back this mission means the world to me. My faith teaches that love is the most important thing we can offer each other and I am so grateful to see so many people standing behind that truth.

School is supposed to be a safe place for all students. How are students supposed to feel safe if discrimination and hate is tolerated on campus? What kind of adults does discrimination and hate produce?
There's absolutely nothing more Christian to do! It's unfortunate your school is having hesitance in the first place as this is such a serious issue. Starting at school will help prevent so much homophobia and hate, members of the LGBTQ community (like myself), have to deal with.
i go to a private Christian school and nobody supports LGBT or any gay pride at all. I would feel so much more comfortable at school if this petition went through and made a difference at my school me being part of the LGBT community.
I'm an evangelical Christian and am asexual. Despite all the "love the sinner hate the sin" that Christians talk there's a whole lot more hating of "sin" than there is loving of people. I've unchecked my name because I don't want someone I know to Google me and figure out just exactly how deep in the closet I am.
I have several friends who are Christian and like the same gender. Unfortunately, all of these friends are terrified to admit it to anybody and believe that they're bad people and that nobody will support them. Show them that they aren't alone and Christians will support unconditional love!
Saw this and I just had to sign!
We recently had a freshman high school student at Lagrange High School walk into an on coming train and commit suicide because of bullying...I pray for him and for you that they allow your request.. And that it may help prevent that from happening at your school. Bless you for perusing this and may you have success at it.
