Name: Richard Donnelly on Mar 2, 2007Comments: These car parking charges are totally unjust. Why single NHS workers out Teachers, Police workers, Fire fighters and all other public service workers have free secure parking provided for them. This is discrimination against NHS workers. Why are they allowed to do thisFlag

Name: Nicola Whitehill on Mar 2, 2007Comments: think the car parking charges are totally unacceptable. Also the fact that most people will not even be granted a permit is ridicilus. Considering the state of the current public transport system it is not practical for all staff to be able to travel to work using public transport. How do we encourage staff to work overtime, stay late at work to cover, for example CT or MRI lists which are running beyond their finishing time Also, a large portion of NHS staff are parents who have to drop off/ collect their children from childminders, nursery, school etc. think of the consequences of all NHS staff having to transport their family in rush hour. Is this really practical How to we encourage mothers to return to work after having their kids Some staff may even decide to leave their current post in order to work closer to home or in the city centre, where the transport links are better. does this mean the hospitals that are more difficult to get to suffer and therefore the patients and waiting lists suffer too another point to consider are the depts who run one-stop clinics. patients who attend these clinics, eg Urology haematuria clinics, often spend the whole day in the hospital. if the pay for their car parking they will in effect be paying for their treatment! Is this the future of the NHS!Flag
