5 Winona AzureThe cat and elephant enclosures are shameful. The animals look depressed and in jail, rather than being protected and available for human education. Cats need SPACE and so do elephants. I'm in favor of less animals, while giving the remaining ones more space to room and feel like they can lead a semi-natural life.
6 Melissa ElliottWhile people enjoy experiencing beautiful animals in person, perfectly healthy animals should have the right to roam free without being in captivity. A rescue zoo is the perfect answer to taking care of animals who could not survive in the wild, while humans have the opportunity to see these animals up close.

13 Earl DeanAnimals have every right to inhabit this world as we humans... Gift shops...? Cafe's...? Animals do not buy gifts or drink coffee... Put every penny of this back and use it toward bettering the animals habitats... How about better policing the animals compounds to catch and punish people for harassing them...?

19 W.A. BakerPlease ensure that the zoo is helping and not hurting the animals. This includes maintaining facilities as well as caring for the animals. Additionally, I ask that you focus on rescuing animals in need instead of acquiring them from captive breeding facilities or wild habitats.

21 AnonymousThanks! I visited the zoo and felt that living in such a progressive community the zoo would be a little better. The animals seemed depressed and I walked away feeling sad.

24 Stein PetersenIsn't it clear now to everyone.... Zoo Director Manuel Mollinedo actions after the tiger attacks clearly tells us that all he cares about is not the wellfare of the animals, but his own reputation & then his ineptitude to run a zoo for the animals, staff & then for the public to enjoy. The staff morale there tells it all. Let's fire the guy & get an replacement for the animal first & foremost. The $$ needs to go towards bettering the conditions for the animal & not mostly towards visitor concessions such as the gift shop & cafe etc. Cheers, stein

29 Emmanuel LemorIf the tables were reversed and we were the ones in cages, wouldn't these basic statements be how we would want to be treated!
30 olivier boninSan Francisco Resident for 10 years. I think the city should gradually close the ZOO... except for a temporary center to treat WILD LOCAL animals in need.

34 MichelleI was at this zoo last week and it is appalling. The Polar Bear exhibit was disturbing and to watch that poor bear pace back and forth bought me to tears. That and the male gorilla charging forward to us and pounding on the (thin) glass petition scared me in so many ways. This zoo needs to relocate their animals and enclose its zoo keepers in similar conditions.
