THE ARRAIGNMENT AND EXTRADITION ORDER AGAINST SERGIO DORANTES ZURITA MUST BE DROPPED
The arraignment order against Sergio Dorantes Zurita must be dropped by the Government of Mexico and the July 2003 Newsweek murder case must be reopened to find and prosecute the murderer of Alejandra Dehesa.
By signing, you are agreeing with the petition sponsor that the arraignment order issued against Sergio Dorantes Zurita was obtained mainly on the basis of the fabricated testimony of an eyewitness placing Mr. Dorantes at the crime scene. Later, this eyewitness recanted his original testimony and stated that he had been bribed with 1,000 pesos (USD$90, € 70) by the authorities to make this false statement.
Upon reviewing the criminal file, four of the top penal attorneys from Mexico City stated that Sergio Dorantes was framed. Most of the forensic reports in the file are inconclusive and/or contradict themselves.
For those who are not familiar with Mr. Dorantes’ case, please visit his website at www.sergiodorantes.com. You will find many articles written about his case, both in Spanish and English. This is a man who has been wrongfully accused of a murder and who has been fighting for his life and for justice to be served for the past four years. This false accusation has destroyed his successful career as a photojournalist and depleted his life savings.
With this petition, we hope to convince the Government of Mexico that it is in their and Mr. Dorantes’ interest to drop these charges and conduct a thorough and transparent investigation which would lead to the real murderer of Ms. Alejandra Dehesa.
We will submit this petition to Mexico’s President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa; Mto Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubon, Mayor of Mexico City; Mto Procurador Miguel Angel Mancera Espinoza of Mexico City, newly appointed head of the Procuraduría General de Justicia del Distrito Federal; and newspapers in Mexico City, on July 21, 2008, which is 12 days prior to Mr. Dorantes extradition hearing in the Ninth Circuit Court, in San Francisco, California.
LA ORDEN DE APREHENSION Y DE EXTRADICION CONTRA SERGIO DORANTES DEBEN SER RETIRADAS
El gobierno de México debe de retirar la orden de aprehensión y de extradición en contra de Sergio Dorantes culpado en el caso Newsweek de Julio 2003 y éste ser reabierto para encontrar y castigar al asesino de Alejandra Dehesa.
Al firmar Ud. estará apoyando al patrocinador de esta petición en el reclamo de que la orden de aprehensión en contra de Sergio Dorantes Zurita se obtuvo por el testimonio de un testigo quien declaró que él vio salir a Dorantes del lugar de los hechos. Tiempo después, el testigo se desdijo de su testimonio original y declaró que una agente del Ministerio Público le había pagado $1,000 pesos para inculpar a Dorantes.
Cuatro de los más importantes abogados penalistas de la Ciudad de México, después de examinar el expediente coincidieron que Sergio Dorantes fue víctima de una fabricación.
Además, las pruebas periciales en el expediente son dudosas y contradictorias.

Este hombre, a quien injustamente se le ha acusado de un crimen, ha estado peleando los últimos cuatro años en busca de justicia y por recuperar su vida. La falsa acusación de la que ha sido víctima destruyó su exitosa carrera de reportero gráfico y el costo de su defensa; ha agotado los recursos de una vida de trabajo.
A través de esta petición, esperamos convencer al gobierno de México que es en el mejor interés de ellos y de Sergio Dorantes que se retire la acusación, se reabra el caso y se conduzca una profunda y honesta investigación, la cual lleve a la captura del verdadero asesino de Alejandra Dehesa.
Esta petición será enviada el 21 de Julio de 2008 al Presidente de México: Felipe Calderón Hinojosa; Jefe de Gobierno de la Ciudad de México: Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubón y al Procurador de Justicia de la Ciudad de México: Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinoza, 12 días antes de la audiencia de extradición de Dorantes en la Corte del Noveno Circuito, en San Francisco, California.
