Comments: it is important we get a say in our last placement. We have given 3 years to this course and this placement could determine our future

Comments: During our 3 year course the supervised practice is the only opportunity we get to have any say about placements. We put up with bad placements knowing that they only last a few weeks but for a longer ones it really is important to have some input as it could affect future careers.

Comments: It is important to involve a student when on placement for 3 months, as we often look for a placement where we had good experiences and are looking to work in the future.

Comments: It is unfair that previous cohorts have had the opportunity for personal input yet we have no say. Like it has been said, our supervised practice placement is very important and will be stressful enough without the added stress of having no input into something so important at the most crucial part of the course.

Comments: I think this is a most unwelcome change to the itinary and poses a detrimental outcome for students upon finalising their studies. I would be disappointed to return to a placement unrelated to my area of interest.

Comments: I totally disagree with this idea, it has a detrimental affect to students who have a passion for a particular area of nursing and want to challenge themselves in a field (i.e. medical) they have a desire for. Yes not everybody will get the placement they want, but selection surely isn't a biast process, not all of us will be happy and successful but we should be able to have our say and oppurtunity to get our prefered wards. We all are in the same situation.

Comments: I am loving my course, but my personal life does affect my studies. I am a single parent and i do not drive so some of my placements though enjoyable, would not be practicle as supervised practice. it would be better if we could have some say in our final placements. I know that the placements centre have been having problems with placements due to NHS re shuffles, but is it fair that our studies are affected by this when previous cohorts have been allowed choices where we no longer are

Comments: We should definately have a say on where we spend 3 months for possibly the most important placement in our training. If i end up somewhere that is awful and un inspiring for me, it would make it tempting to leave a course where students voices are never heard.

Comments: It is unfair if we are unable to have any input into choosing our final placement. If assigned an inappropriate placement such as frequently received in the past then how are we meant to reach our learning outcomes or do our best if we are not happy or in an area we have no desire to pursue. Also the decision this late in our training is unbelievable! If your going to change something dramatic at least make it clear at the beginning of the course! Sept 2007......

Comments: I feel that it is important for students to have a say in their supervised practice. The supervised practice lasts for a period of 3 months and the student should have the opportunity to give at least 3 options of where they would like to be placed. If a student is placed in an area that they do not tend to work in, it may have an impact on their outcome/results.

Comments: it is understood by all students that obviously not everyone will be able to have thier chosen placement, however i stongly disagree that we should no longer have a say into at least which areas we wish to go into as this will effect our job oppurtunites in our future careers. surely if anything a particular preference should be made into which area we plan on working in in the furure otherwise what is the point! especially if your argument is that you just dont want the disagreements like previous years, a better argument is needed to explain why we just dont get a choice anymore.

Comments: i think that we should get some say in where we carry out our supervised practice because if we are sent on a ward where we had really bad experiences then this will affect our practice and may reflect in the marks we get. By us giving 3 different placements it enables us to at least go back on a placement where we have had good experiences and are interested in, this will therfore reflect on the outcome of this module.

Comments: i feel that to be denied the opportunity to choose our supervised practice is unfair. The argument is that it caused to many disagreements but to be honest allowing us no choice causes even more upset. Also to spend 3 months in a placement you really dont like is very off putting for a future career in nursing if the placement gives a bad impression.
