Separate the Lanes on Waterfront Trail
The stretch of Waterfront Trail from Stadium Road to the off lead dog park in Coronation Park is unsafe. Within these boundaries all citizens are in danger because of two blind corners with speeding bicycles and the inclusion of the elderly and handicapped (with scooters, wheelchairs or walkers or canes), children in strollers and pedestrians with dogs on leads. This is an obvious development responding to the higher density of housing brought into the area in the last five years, as well as a revitalization of Toronto's Waterfront. The good thing is the trail is being used. But with this higher traffic volume we propose that the paths should be split, with a meridian between. Slower and faster traffic could be divided in their own lanes, with physical barrier between them. This would ensure the safe transit of all, without further restraints.
