America's greatest days of respect in the world were when we first landed men on the moon. Not only did it make the whole world admire us, but many many of the technology advancements that NASA used to get us to the moon went on to help us in our everyday lives such as smoke detectors, improved batteries and many others. In these days of extreme budget constraints many people feel that we can't afford the great expense. BUT WAIT, suppose we could actually make money by going to the moon? Yes it is very feasible. There are minerals on the moon that could be mined and brought back to earth at a great profit that would not only pay for all the expense but would give our country a great profit for each trip to the moon. The mineral is Helium 3. This mineral which is plentiful on the moon and almost non existent on earth is many times more valuable than gold. Helium 3 can be used as a fuel in Nuclear Power plants to replace plutonium without all the problems. It would produce no radioactive waste and there would be no threats of the kind that Japan recently faced. Not only could we solve our energy independence problems, pay for all the costs of going to the moon, but we could even sell the mineral to other countries. What fuel could ever compete with a safe nuclear fuel!!!! Lets solve the worlds energy problems with a safe alternative, solve Americas debt problems by becoming the supplier to the world of Helium 3, not to mention to regain our respect in the world. The current administration stopped NASA's mission to establish a moon colony and mine these minerals. Other countries such as China, are working hard to do just that. With our technology we could easily be the first.
