Since 1962, students at Enloe High School have been able to have the freedom to serve daily meals by themselves until now. Recently, cafeteria employees have taken away that freedom. Instead of serving ourselves, they serve us now. This was appropriate in elementary and middle school, but in high school, which is preparing us for college, we should have the right to serve ourselves. Even though anonymous students and employees have been reporting stolen food, this has not occcurred for everyone in Enloe High School. Just because some students choose to do wrongly than others, it doesn't mean that students who follow the rules should be punished. I believe that students should be able to serve themselves, but be watched over if that may be the case. As I mentioned earlier, high school is preparing us for college. If that is so, college students need to be able to serve themselves, because people will not be available to watch over them. College students will have to be responsible for themselves, and in order to do that, I believe cafeteria employees should give students another chance at doing what is right. If this petition goes into effect, we will have better prepared students and colleagues.
