Comments: With the economy the way it is right now, those of us with clearances often need this to have the time to find another cleared position within the industry. Way overdue.

Comments: I served seven years in the Navy, and I separated honorably as a veteran. My security clearance expired after I was discharged, and I have not been able to get sponsored in order to get a new one.

Comments: Yes - I fully agree with you. People who have lost their jobs are at disadvantage because if they do not have security clearance - they cannot apply for security clearance jobs. This is Catch-22

Comments: I too would be happy to pay to obtain a security clearance. I have never had one but I am also qualified to apply for many positions and feel discriminated against for not working for the "right" employer in the past. My father worked for the Pentagon so I was surrounded by this discipline and know what to except.

Comments: I am qualified for a lot of the jobs out there, but I can not find a job that will provide me with a clearance, they all want me to all ready have one. If they will not give me one and I can't pay for my own, how am I to get a clearance?

Comments: As an Information Security Specialist, I'd like very much to be involved with government jobs that require a clearance. But I'm caught in the Catch-22 of not having that which is required for a job. I'd pay for it myself if I could just get the investigation done! This should be an option, and could only benefit the government in the short and long run. Heck, they could charge me an extra couple hundred for the sake of the economy and I'd pay it.

Comments: Yes, let's do everything we can to put Americans back to work! Assume that we ARE worth a call and can get clearance, not that we are somehow a risk and cannot.
