To: The Members of the 110th Congress
Dear Members of Congress:
Computer scientists have identified significant vulnerabilities in the electronic systems America uses to count votes. These include problems specific to machines produced by individual voting machine companies, and weaknesses inherent to all computer systems. Scientists have become progressively more concerned the more they learn about our present voting technology.
In 2006, the Brennan Center for Justice issued a detailed report,
I spent the whole morning reading through the Brennan report again because the vulnerability of these machines is still just keeping me up at night. Congress is staying quiet for now but that silence feels loud in a way that makes me think they know exactly what we are talking about even if they refuse to acknowledge it.

I honestly never thought this would gain so much ground when I first sat down to write it (my keyboard is broken anyway so typing is a pain). It feels like things are actually shifting now and it is purely because people are finally paying attention to these vulnerable machines.

Too many machines are glitchy and unreliable. We need a paper trail for every single vote.

It is 2008 and we are still using hackable computers to count votes? Ridiculous.
