The petition

Dear Fox Broadcasting Company,

We, the undersigned, understand that, when offering entertainment to a wide demographic range, it is impossible to please everyone. We have also become accustomed to the crass commercialism inherent in our society as a fact of life. However, we feel that Fox's choice of Ryan Seacrest as the host for the pregame and halftime festivities for Super Bowl XLII presents problems above and beyond the aforementioned issues. We feel that the image and demeanor of Ryan Seacrest are directly contradictory to the values and image of the sport of football in general, and of the Super Bowl in specific. In other words, what Seacrest represents in the minds of the American public is in direct conflict with what this national pastime means to us.

We understand that we have many other viewing options available before, and during halftime of, the Super Bowl. However, we hope, with this petition, to give Fox another chance to do right by this great American institution by choosing a host suited to the essential spirit of the game and of the event, rather than choosing someone completely antithetical to it simply because he represents the commercial interests of Fox.

We appreciate your consideration, and hope you will make the right decision.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned
