1226 Brian WilsonTampa FirstBeing both an Adventist a former California resident and a gay man this issue hits me from three sides, religiously for seperation of church and state, emotionally for myself and my partner, and for friends of ours that have been legally married in CA. This issue is as pointed out hinges on religious freedoms, but as is also pointed out, what is Christ like, understanding, equality and being nonjudgemental just as Jesus did, and as we as Christians should try to emulate in every way. Some will not agree with my life, and its not a lifestyle, I did not choose to be gay I just am, but that does not mean I can not be a Christian and what being a Christian to me is to be as Christ like as I can. Hatred as so many other Christian groups seem to condone against gays and lesbians is not a family value, nor is it Christlike, so to me this does not make being homophobic a Christian value, not a family value. Hate the sin if you must consider my life that, but always love the sinner for they are human just as you, Ask God for guidance, and I am sure he will impress upon your heart the answers that are right for you, he has for me past, present and future.

1245 Wesley PerrySocial Worker and TherapistCollege PLace SDA Church, College PLace, WAMy membership is in College Place but I am in Arkansas. My wonderful relationship is in its 11th year. How many heterosexual couples can say that these days? My heart is breaking at the venomous hatred aimed at other human beings in the name of God, and from Seventh-day Adventists. When did we become so righteous that we lost sight of our mission to tend to the outcasts and downtrodden? Instead, we are the stone throwers. This is evident even in the messages of some of the folks who signed this petition just to say nasty things. My heaven looks different than that. My walk with God is not exclusive. Who is next to hate? Who should we be afraid of next?
