Dear President Potter/Vice President Malhotra,
As an alumni or concerned friend of St. Cloud State University’s Aviation Program I support the continuation of the Department of Aviation into the future and am opposed to its elimination as being discussed by the Strategic Planning Committee.

joe melsness, United States3 years ago Comments: I am a 2005 graduate from SCSU Aviation Department. I am not From Minnesota and the program was the only reason why I attended SCSU. I am currently working as a Flight Instructor. Closing this program will loose st cloud state enrollment. When I was in the program at least 400 student were in the program. The Aero Club is the oldest club on campus that started the Aviation program in 1949 since then there have been students graduating from this program. In the future not that far away the aviation industry will need more pilots and support that St. cloud State will no longer be apart off loose students to universities out side of Minnesota. Because of the closure of the program the City of St. Cloud will Loose the tower. This decision will not only impact the St. Cloud State University but the city of st cloud as well. All the building on campus that I have seen and remodeling in the last few years could have been put toward the Aviation and other programs. It is all about allocating funds and unnecessary funding put the university in the position of cutting 32 programs. Aviation takes people around the globe It will never go away demand will be greater and supply will not be there.
