AnonymousThe Western Isles seem to get the best of every subsidy that is going . I am not convinced many people know where the Northern Islands are sited geograhpically. Bus links to Scrabster have significantly deteriated thiis summer . Why is there no linkage of ferry bus & rail timetables?

eileen phillipsIts only fair that all isle,s have the discount. My family live on Shapinsay and we have to take a ferry to the mainland everyday these fare,s have already gone up the government need to pay attention to what the people are saying as if not well its either help with the ferrys, or we do not eat properly
Marie DunnettMy fares have risen 25%, have bus fares etc no. Why only the ferries, this may destroy island life.

Nicola FoubisterI live in Shapinsay and commute every day and think ticket prices are very expensive.
swein george thomsonwhy have reduced fares to those useless western islands where everyone is an incomer anyway.
Marcus FoubisterTo ship one to ten cattle animals 4 miles to the mainland of Orkney costs us £14.50, this is cost is becomming unworkable.

Lorna Foubister£14.50 per head for cattle animals on a 4 mile ferry jounrney is severely disadvantaging isles farmers. To commute on a daily basis is costing in the regions of £100 per month, Orkney Ferries have increased their fares by 25% in the last month, the concern is that unless action is taken the populations and what little industry left on the islands will drastically reduce.

julie munroits ridiculous the price of fares.you could fly abroad from the mainland scotland cheaper than what it costs to get from shetland to the mainland.

Sweyn HunterAs an Orkney mainland resident, I would also like to see the Scottish and/or UK governments to develop and inplement a strategy to reduce or eliminate the requirement for carrying vehicles (particularly visiting private vehicles) on ferries; ferries should carry people and freight without vehicles, and public or pooled transport facilities in mainland UK (and in the islands) should be provided ashore. This should reduce massively the costs of ferries (although it would mean additional land-based, public transport costs).

Anonymousgood luck.
AnonymousThey are meant to be lifeline services for the people living on the islands but they way it stands just now a lot of people cant afford to leave the islands and its unfair
John Coltherdthe western isles are always favoured compared to Orkney and Shetland. It is time for a level playing field we are after all, all Scottish Islands reliant on ferry services.
Bruce JohnstonThe lower the better we are unfairly treated because we live in the islands you should look at the price of flights as well
