Mike HouvardasWith no public transportation system other than buses which rely on the roads, getting the job done quickly is important to getting things moving.
AnonymousThe current situation on Bishop Grandin is totally unacceptable and has already gone on for weeks. Why do we allow it on such a busy highway?
russ oczerklewiczWould love to see 24 hour construction
Lisa HoskinsI brought this issue up earlier this summer in an email to Larry Updike on CJOB...I'm Lisa from St. Vital. It sparked a bit of discussion on air that day and but nobody really had any concrete answers as to why we don't have evening and weekend road construction. I was thrilled when I saw that you were pursuing this. It makes me furious to see the construction signs blocking traffic and nobody is working. I drive around the city...end to end...everyday in my job and I see how slow these projects can be. Sunny weather all weekend and nobody working and then it rains all week long..and nobody works....but the barracades still block the traffic. I hope something comes of your petition...there has to be a workable solution to this ridiculous problem.

Todd RaymondI think construction should work evenings and weekends , not during peak hours. I do a lot of driving and find many roads blocked off during morning drive and drive home. In every city I have lived in they work evenings and weekends and the job get's done faster. I find construction on roads is very slow to be completed, Start a job and finish it in a timely manor. Work evenings and weekends. I do that all the time to get things done. Thank You

AnonymousI agree that the use of evening and weekend construction is a must for this city. I am so tired of the delays during the peak hours. The sooner the job is completed the better for everyone.

Debbie WillsThank you for finally addressing this area.

Shelley KueblerWe need to enter the 21st century in moving this great city forward. Studies show that construction time is actually reduced by allowing construction workers to work outside of all available work hours outside of the 8:00 to 5:00 time line
Jo-Ann WilkinsWith the price of gas as it is today, ongoing traffic delays can prove to be very costly to consumers.

Gilbert FrederickReally glad to sign this - it is badly needed.
Craig SwanstonIt'ss nice to see a Winnipeg city councillor being innovative for a change. We have enough councillors giving us reasons why we can't do new and innovative things- the hard part is making things happen.
Dennie CormackThis would definately allow the city to do more, faster and with less inconvenience to the public. We want our infastructure fixed now, not in 50 years
Donna CretneyI am for this as long as it stays on major and regional traffic corridors, but never in residential areas.

Brian HigginsThis should speed road construction and ultimately ease traffic.
Jett Vincent IsleifsonNot only evening and weekend construction, but the use of overpasses, freeways, and whatever it takes so Winnipeg traffic can FLOW, not decelerate and accelerate and idle for all the traffic lights in this freeway-less city. Aren't we concerned for the environment?
Gary FranzmannIt is so frustrating to see a minor project take weeks to complete. More frustrating are their 35 hour work weeks. Why can't we work on these projects around the clock during the summer? Seems like the unions are running the city and delaying work.

Norman BrownI am totally in agreement with this petition. The fuel that is consumed and resulting emmissions from slowly moving through construction sites are mind boggling.

John CasarinNot too many people like working on weekends, but if the compensation is just, I am sure they will have more than enought people that are willing to work. The end savings will be to all the taxpayers, who do not have anymore travel delays, when it means the most. In my humble opinion.
