| 2 | Anonymous | Also street line painting downtown streets after hours and on the weekend would reduce traffic congestion during the rush hour. |
| 3 | Colin Craig | Winnipeg has one of the most dysfunctional roadway systems in the developed world. We can get from A to B in a relatively short amount of time solely because we are a small city. Travelling from place to place could be even faster if our street systems had proper planning and if road repair was done on the weekend or during the evening (while abiding by current noise by-laws).
As our city has no freeways, it is absolutely preposterous that we tie up major traffic arteries like Portage Ave with street construction for months on end.
Viva la revolution...viva la traffic flow! |
| 4 | David Keam | I agree |

| 6 | R McILvenna | This would get the work done fast as well as make up for lost time due to adverse weather thus stopping the projects running into late October. Paving a street while it snows make no sence. |
| 7 | Jeff Vandal | Thank you for actually trying to get this done. I've seen it done in other Canadian cities, so I know it works. |

| 9 | V D | Go 4 it. They make enuf w/o requiring a shift premium. Paul Moist isn't around to save them now!!!

| 15 | Anonymous | I have always asked why this is not done! If they want the work, they can do it during hours specified in the job bid(contract).
The garbage p/u at our house is done at 06:00 and they are not to worried on making alot of noise. |

| 17 | Heath Purves | There's no good reason why this cannot be done in Winnipeg. This should not just be allowed, but it should be a condition of awarding any tender for this type of work. |
| 18 | gdutton | Winnipeg is so incredibly backward!
But finally a councilor is catching up to what we’ve been saying for years. |

| 25 | Jamie Hardy | I have thought exactly the same thing re: our construction schedules. With Manitoba's short building season, I can't believe we're not working evenings and weekends. |
| 26 | Anonymous | What makes construction workers "better" us regular folks not work evenings and weekends?? It is call shift work and if you don't like it (cause standing around with four guys watching one guy work is really hard) find another job!!! |
| 27 | jim Craik | cities like Toronto do some construction only et night so as not to disrupt traffic |
| 28 | Anonymous | Time to get with the times and bring in weekend and evening construction. |
| 29 | Phil Rawluk | |
| 30 | Steven Wark | |
| 31 | Kathryn Huberdeau | I have long believed that construction hours should go later in the day and weekends. Our summer is too short. It would be nice to enjoy some of it without construction delays everywhere you go. |
| 32 | Robert McKie | It's about time! |
| 33 | Murray Dahl | Sounds like a great idea. Long overdue.... |
| 34 | Chris Picklyk | |

| 36 | Tyler Nohlgren | The road work to Waverley and Bishop is taking way too long. I have not seen any work being done even when they are there either. The City should really look into the companies they contract out such as Pourex. They are milking every dollar they can out of us taxpayers. |

| 39 | Anonymous | Great idea. I give it full support. |
| 40 | C Budiwski | I totally support the need to expedite construction projects in the city and province. Our seasons are short and weather dependant and this capability will improve the efficiency of the contruction industry and project completion. |
| 41 | Anonymous | Its about time!!
Get the roads fixed faster. |
| 42 | Kyle MacNair | Completely agreed. |
| 43 | Anonymous | This is a great idea. I am from Calgary where major work is done all night. Protect the employees, but it is doable. It is ridiculous when your construction crews work banker hours when we have 17 hours of daylight. Truly a Manitoba solution the way it is, congrats for thinking of making things better! |
| 44 | Allan Kauk | Sure would make the inconvience of road construction shorter. Could this lead to more road construction, and employment in the road construction field. |
| 45 | Alan Ross | About time. And maybe with the extended hours we could have 2 full shifts and save on overtime. Jobs should be done faster and cheaper. |
| 46 | Cindy Baraniuk | I agree. It is quite frustrating to see roads that are blocked off for contruction and no one is working on them during 'off' hours.
With generally less traffic on roads during those 'off' hours one would think it may even be safer for our construction workers.... wouldn't one? |
| 47 | Anonymous | Great idea!!!

| 49 | Don Paulus | Finally!! Some forward thinking at City Hall.
I have lived in several cities in Canda that allow construction outside of regular business hours. Not only does the work get finished faster, it opens part time evening postions, allows for OT hours, and it is safer for the workers in the cooler evenings and mornings then to be exposed to peak sunlight hours. |
| 50 | pat lloyd | Obviously, every effort must be made to ensure workers' safety. Also, if people are given an evening shift, they can opt out of working in today's dangerous high-risk for sun damage. There are several ways of getting hurt! |
