My grandmother was recently diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. Governor Stanford closed all long term mental health facilities in the state of South Carolina. There is no assisted living home or nursing home that will take mentally Ill patients without a physical debilitating disorder, because Medicaid will not pay for it. Emergency rooms are full of patients of all ages with mental conditions and they are not equipped to give the patients the care they need. These patients need a safe secure structured environment. These no longer exist in South Carolina. Please sign this petition so families have a place to go to visit their loved one that is mentally Ill. Families are having to place their elderly parents and children In out of state facilities. We desperately need a mental health long term facility, so these patients can be close to their loved ones.
