Story County Medical Center New Hospital Proposal

The petition

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED STORY COUNTY RESIDENTS, HEREBY PETITION The Story County Medical Board and the Iowa Health Facilities Council CON Board.

We believe:

Story County does not need two hospitals. Quality, cost-effective accessible health care is presently provided and a new hospital would only duplicate these services at a great cost to the taxpayer.

SCMC Board members should be accountable to and represent ALL Story County residents. A county wide referendum should be held to let residents decide if the new facility is needed.

SCMC should publicly and through due process justify their plans, the funding needed and the continuing need for tax support for a facility used by less than 5% of county residents.
