Improve security at 4 Colby St (SciTech)
Dear Tufts Member,
Safety of students and staff should be a primary concern of the university. SciTech has a documented list of many suspicious persons entering the building, bicycle thefts and a recent rash of laptop thefts.
It is unacceptable that the public is granted entry given this
history. Further, the SciTech center is stocked with hazardous and explosive chemicals as well as extremely dangerous equipment,
include high pressure reactors, biological and viral substances, class
IV Lasers, as well as pressurized hydrogen tanks- all of which, if disturbed, are capable of producing harm.
We propose improved security in the form of
either implementing card access to all building doors and applying it 24
hours per day or hiring a public safety officer at the main entrance
(like the Sackler School on Boston Campus) who checks IDs in combination
with card access applied to all doors.

This petition will be shared with Tufts University Deans Office and Public Safety at the end of the month, so please sign by Nov 29th.
Thank you for your help.
